BOP capability · Work

Make the next action
someone’s responsibility.

BOP Work connects processes and decisions to owned actions, blockers, comments, evidence, and completion. Help your team see what to do next—and what done actually means.

The operating problem

A status update is not the same as progress.

A change can be marked “in progress” while everyone waits for someone else. Useful work context explains the action, the owner, the blocker, and the evidence needed to finish.

Ownership

Make the next action and the responsible role explicit rather than leaving them in a conversation.

Dependencies

Explain what is preventing progress and connect the blocker to the process or record it affects.

Completion

Keep the evidence and outcome with the work, so another team can understand what was resolved.

One change, connected capabilities

Resolve the evidence gap

Illustrative example · Fictional information, not a live application or customer result.
Action
Provide the test report for CHG-014
Responsible role
Product Development
Current state
Blocked · awaiting the report
Why it matters
The reviewer cannot assess the proposed change without evidence
Completion evidence
The relevant report is attached or referenced
Next handoff
Reviewer assesses the evidence; approval is still a separate decision

An owned action answers the question a status label cannot: what has to happen before this process can continue?

How it fits into the operation.

  1. Define the action

Connect the request to the process step and record that explain its purpose.

  2. Expose the blocker

Make missing information and dependencies part of the work context.

  3. Close with evidence

Record the outcome so the next participant can act without restarting the conversation.

Completing an action does not automatically mean the business decision is approved. Your operating method defines the readiness checks and decision responsibilities.

Connected, not standalone

See it with your process

Make work useful for your team.

Bring an action that stalls, the team responsible, and the evidence you expect before calling it complete.
